Premier League

The Premier League is the top professional football (soccer) division in England, known for being one of the most competitive and widely watched leagues in the world. Founded in 1992, it replaced the Football League First Division as the highest level of English football. The league consists of 20 teams that compete in a round-robin format, with each team playing 38 matches over the course of a season, which typically runs from August to May. Teams earn three points for a win, one point for a draw, and no points for a loss. At the end of each season, the teams that finish at the bottom of the standings face relegation to the second tier, known as the EFL Championship, while the best teams from the Championship are promoted to the Premier League. The Premier League is famous for its high level of play, significant financial investment, and international broadcasting reach, attracting a global audience of millions.
