French Ligue 1

French Ligue 1, commonly referred to as Ligue 1, is the top professional football (soccer) league in France. It is the premier division of the French football league system and is operated by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP). Ligue 1 features a number of clubs competing annually for the championship title, with a season typically running from August to May. The league consists of 18 teams that play each other in a round-robin format, where each team faces every other team twice, once at home and once away.

Teams earn points based on their match performance—three points for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. The club with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion. The bottom teams face relegation to Ligue 2, the second tier of French football, while the top teams from Ligue 2 are promoted to Ligue 1.

Ligue 1 is known for its competitive nature and has produced numerous top football talents and successful clubs, making it a significant league in European football. It is followed by fans both domestically and internationally, showcasing both established teams and emerging talent.
